ABERDEEN, S.D.?– Northern State University will host the 70th annual Mathematics Contest on?Wednesday, April 16, 2025,?at the Barnett Center on the NSU campus.
High school students from the region are invited to compete in one of four divisions: elementary algebra, geometry, advanced algebra and senior math. Dr. Stacy Trentham, NSU associate professor of mathematics and contest director, estimates that approximately 500 contestants from 25 area schools will participate. NSU mathematics faculty members Dr. Ricardo Rojas and Dr. Travis Trentham will assist with the event.
The contest awards ceremony will take place at?1 p.m. April 16?in the Barnett Center. While the contest itself is closed to the public, community members are invited to attend the ceremony. Medals will be awarded to the top five finishers in each division, and a plaque will be presented to the coach of each first-place winner. The school in each class with the highest combined percentage score across all four divisions will receive a traveling trophy.
